José Angel is a small producer.
José’s business and ours are both defying the commodified systems that exist for coffee. By getting granular and working on quality and profitability at a small scale, we can all keep making this super delicious treat, and enjoy drinking it as much as we enjoy creating it.
The Lopez family grow mainly Pacas on their 2.5 hectare farm near lake Yojoa in Santa Bárbara, in Honduras. José is a nerd in the best way. Every year he tweaks his process to improve brightness & sweetness in his coffees.
Coffee is bought & sold using archaic, colonial systems that are working as designed. This is doing farmers no favours. The goal for our tiny but mighty company is to resist these systems and communicate why and how we’re doing that with you.
From humble beginnings roasting by night in a friend’s space in East Van back in 2017, to today, in our own stealth roastery near the foothills of Golden Ears outside Vancouver, BC, this tiny yet mighty roastery is independent, and very proud of it.
